Santé Montréal

Un souci de santé pendant le long week-end? Faites le bon choix!

You have options. Make the right choice!

Go to the Make the right choice! section at any time to find out who and when to consult.

Taking care of your health is important. Don’t hesitate to consult if you feel a need to do so.

Labour Day holiday is this Monday, September 7. If you're sick or worried about your health or the health of a loved one during a statutory holiday, other options than the emergency room are available.

Info-Santé 8-1-1

  • Info-Santé nurses are available 24/7 all year round. They can recommend what to do, based on  specific clinical protocols. They can also tell you when you should see a doctor and who to see, if necessary. Call 8-1-1.

Family doctor

Walk-in clinics

  • If you need to see a doctor, many clinics have long opening hours (12 hours a day) and are open weekends (8 hours a day). You can see a doctor, get x-rays or have blood tests, if your case is urgent.

Neighbourhood pharmacist

  • Your pharmacist can prescribe medications for certain minor conditions like common or easily recognized health problems that can be treated. Don’t hesitate to consult her or him.
  • Do you have questions about medications or a health issue? Ask Your Pharmacist is an online service that provides free and easy access to pharmacists’s knowledge.

As a last resort, go to emergency if your situation requires it.
Of course, if this is a life threatening emergency, call 9-1-1.

In case of psychological distress

  • Are you feeling anxious or going through a difficult period? Call Info-Social at 8-1-1. Info-Social is a free, confidential psychosocial helpline. A social worker will answer your questions, give you advice and direct you to the right resource, if necessary.
