Organized by Association du Québec pour l’intégration sociale (AQIS), Québec’s 28th Intellectual Disability Week will take place from 13 to 19 March. This year’s theme is “Comme on se ressemble!”
During the week, several awareness-raising activities will be organized throughout the province, providing an opportunity to meet remarkable people. Knowing more about intellectual disability helps break down prejudices.
Actor Vincent-Guillaume Otis has been the event’s spokesperson for 7 years. He is familiar with this issue since one of his brothers has an intellectual disability. For a third year running, Vincent-Guillaume Otis has invited actor, singer and dancer Gabrielle Marion-Rivard to be his co-spokesperson. The two met while filming Gabrielle, directed by Louise Archambault. Together, the actors embody a simple but important message that can help break down prejudices against people with intellectual disabilities that are often deeply ingrained in our society.
