Justice is a three-part documentary that draws a powerful portrait of the justice system, using three archetypes: a young offender, the victim of a criminal act, and an ex-detainee.
The Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, a proud partner of this Picbois Productions documentary series, actively collaborated on the project, especially on the episode dealing with young offenders. Film crew members spent several months at Centre de réadaptation Cité des prairies of the Centre Jeunesse de Montréal–IU, to enhance their understanding of the complex issues and challenges related to young offenders.
The episode on young offenders brings viewers into the heart of the justice system for minors in an open custody unit, a social laboratory where knowledge is co-constructed.
This issue presents a major challenge for practitioners, who strongly believe that rehabilitating and reintegrating these youth helps makes society safer.
The “Jeunes contrevenants” episode airs on Monday, 14 March at 9 p.m. on Télé-Québec.
