Specialized nurse practitioners : new avenues for collaboration

Infirmières praticiennes spécialisées : vers de nouvelles perspectives de collaboration

More power given to specialized nurse practitioners (SNP) and better access to care and services. The Collège des médecins du Québec has made a historic decision that opens the door to new interprofessional collaboration; the Collège also recommends that the Ordre des infirmières et infirmiers du Québec (OIIQ) provide guidance on the roles, responsibilities and conditions of practice of SNPs.

For Minister of Health and Social Services Danielle McCann : “This announcement allows us to move forward to achieve our common objectives, which essentially are designed to improve access to care and services.

Interprofessional collaboration

The Minister of Health and Social Services, Danielle McCann, the president of the College of physicians, Doctor Mauril Gaudreault, and the president of OIIQ, Luc Mathieu, consider that interprofessional collaboration is essential to improving access to care and maintaining quality of care. Together they are committed to ensuring continued collaboration between physicians and SNPs, for the benefit of all Quebecers.
