Tips and recommendations
The arrival of spring and melting snow increase water levels and the risk of flooding in certain areas. Do you live in a high-risk area?
- To learn how to prepare and protect yourself if your home is located in a risk zone, visit the City of Montreal website.
- To protect your health after a flood, see the fact sheet on floods
The fact sheet on floods presents recommendations from the Montreal regional public health department on cleaning your home after a flood, getting rid of mould in your home, cleaning up outdoors and possible contamination of drinking water.
Monitoring and support
Since the beginning of the spring season, the Organisation régionale de sécurité civile (ORSC) and the Centre de sécurité civile de la Ville de Montréal have been monitoring water levels and weather predictions. In parallel, the Coordination régionale des mesures d’urgence et de la sécurité civile of the CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l'Île-de-Montréal, in collaboration with the institutions belonging to the Montreal health and social services network, is responsible for implementing and coordinating measures if necessary. For example: support for a territory or health facility at risk of being flooded, organization of health services for victims of flooding, etc.
