New measures taken by the RAMQ
These new measures affect homeless people in particular. Authentication of photos in CLSCs is no longer required.
In Québec, you need a health insurance card to receive services at no cost in a health facility.
All Québec residents can obtain a health insurance card and have to request one to access services.
Each family member must have his or her own health insurance card. It’s important to always have your card with you and never lend it to anyone.
Usually you receive a renewal notice about 3 months before your card expires.
If you recently registered for the Health Insurance Plan and are aged 18 or over, you will receive a renewal notice 45 days before your card expires.
If you don’t receive a renewal notice or if you misplace it, call the Régie or go to a Régie reception desk during office hours. It is important to notify the Régie if you move to make sure the renewal notice is sent to the right address.
You can ask for a lost, stolen or damaged card to be replaced for yourself or for your children under 18.
