Consent to organ and tissue donation
Organ donation is a synonym for hope for many people waiting for a transplant.
Many families of potential donors are still reluctant to authorize organ donation because they often did not have the opportunity to discuss it with their loved ones.
Talk it over with your family members and inform them of your decision.
Three ways to give consent
Consent Register for Organ and Tissue Donations - Régie de l'assurance maladie du Québec
You can make your consent official by entering it in the register. To do so, you have to fill out a form.
Sticker on the back of the Health Insurance Card
By signing the sticker and affixing it on the back of your Health Insurance Card, you consent to organ and tissue donation when you die.
For consent to remain valid, you must sign and affix the sticker on your new card every time you get one, unlike for the register, which only has to be done once.
Consent Register for Organ and Tissue Donations - La Chambre des notaires du Québec
If you give your free and informed agreement or refusal to donate your organs and tissues after discussing it with your notary, he or she can record your decision in your will or mandate.
