Mosquito and tick bites can spread diseases to humans that can have serious consequences.

Mosquitoes and ticks that transmit these diseases are found in several regions of Québec.

Ticks that can spread Lyme disease are found especially in the north and west areas
of the Eastern Townships; a large part of Montérégie; south-west Mauricie-et-Centre-du-Québec;
and south-west Outaouais.

Ticks are found in forests, woods and tall grass. While Montréal is considered a possible risk area, the risk is lower than in the regions listed above. Preventive measures against tick bites are also recommended for Montréal.

The best way to protect yourself from ticks and mosquitoes is to avoid getting bitten.
